The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

The Classification & Treatment Officers (CTOs) at Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex are responsible for the classification inmates eligible to stay in the county jails including ones that return from shock probation, Mandatory Reentry Supervision (MRS), and parole.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Interview, assess, evaluate and counsel inmates to gather information for assessments.
Project type and level of custody for controlled intake inmates.
Review Courtnet.
Recommend programming based on inmate's needs.
Completes NICS with appropriate status code.
Utilize the Kentucky Offender Management System and enter information in to inmate files.
Field phone calls from family members, jails, and other outside agencies.
Serves on classification and adjustment committees.
Prepare various reports.
Provide guidance and direction to assist inmates in identifying needs and goals in accordance with individual and institutional requirements.
Minimum Requirements EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:

An associate's degree with two years of current or prior military experience will substitute for the required bachelor's degree.
Prior military experience will only substitute if the individual received an honorable discharge, discharge under honorable conditions, or a general discharge.

):
NONE Working Conditions Work is typically performed in an office setting within a correctional institution.
Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.
